This is just a placeholder post for me to make sure that I remember my big take-away lessons from today. Pictures will follow as soon as I beat my laptop into submission. As a consolation prize for not being able to make it to cross country camp, Saga's mom, Zhizhu and I hitched up the trailer Friday night and headed down to PIne Hill for a day of Cross Country schooling. Zigs travelled like a champ, and although he was pretty looky once we got there, he calmed down once I got him in a stall, and put hay and dinner in front of him. I had a hard time sleeping last night, due to my excitement. I knew that Zigs was ok to Stadium fences, but I had no clue as to how he would react to jumping in the open. I'm falling asleep as I try to write this, so here are the main things I learned:
- I neeed to ride with my hands higher when jumping.
- I need to work on Zigs' halt.
- Zigs is extremely brave over fences.
Tomorrow, once I have pictures, I'll write a more detailed post.
